Privacy

This site is a personal website. It has no accounts, sign-up forms, advertising or tracking cookies. This page explains the two services that do handle data when you visit.

The short version

  • Page views are counted with Vercel Web Analytics, which is anonymous and does not use cookies.
  • The Let's Talk button uses Cloudflare Turnstile to check you are not a bot before showing an email address.
  • This site does not set its own cookies, sell data or show ads.
  • If you email me, I use your email only to reply.

Analytics: Vercel Web Analytics

The site is hosted on Vercel and uses Vercel Web Analytics to count page views. For each page view it records the page address, the referring site, an approximate location (country and region), and your browser, operating system and device type.

It does not use cookies. Visitors are counted using a hash of the incoming request that is discarded after 24 hours, so I only see aggregated statistics that cannot identify you or follow you across other websites.

Bot protection: Cloudflare Turnstile

Pages with a Let's Talk button load Cloudflare Turnstile. When you click the button, Turnstile checks that a person, not an automated scraper, is asking for my email address. Turnstile processes signals such as your IP address and browser details solely to tell people from bots. The site then sends the Turnstile result and your IP address to Cloudflare to confirm the check before opening your email app.

The site does not store the result of the check.

If JavaScript is off or Turnstile can't load, Let's Talk uses a simple check run by this site instead. To limit repeated attempts, it briefly keeps a hashed (one-way scrambled) form of your IP address in the server's memory. It is not stored in a database or written to logs, and it is discarded after about 10 minutes.

Hosting

Like any web host, Vercel processes technical request data, such as your IP address and browser details, to deliver pages and keep the service secure. See Vercel's privacy policy.

Email and links to other sites

If you email me, I receive your email address and anything you write, and use them only to reply. I do not add you to a mailing list.

Links to Substack, LinkedIn, GitHub and project sites take you to services with their own privacy policies.
